Staying Active
Staying active is a big part of winter wellness, but it can be tough to feel motivated when the weather isn’t playing ball.
At The Sterling there are plenty of opportunities for you to keep active. Stay in the warmth of the Clubhouse with weekly fitness sessions hosted by Āio Fitness and Wellbeing. If you don’t mind braving the cold, there are abundant outdoor activities in Silverstream including the walkways, cycle paths and fitness stations that follow the course of the river.
Upon completion of the Kauri & Mānuka buildings, The Sterling will provide a well-equipped gym, large pool, and relaxing spa and sauna. There are also various amenities planned to keep you active and having fun, including a putting green, bowling green and multi-purpose green which could be used for activities such as croquet, yoga, tai-chi and much more.
Social Connection
Winter can sometimes bring upon the ‘winter blues’, especially when you’re cooped up inside for long periods. Retirement village living can help combat these times by offering many opportunities for social connection.
At The Sterling we encourage social connection by organising events and providing our residents with the resources to hold their own resident-led social events, including knitting groups, happy hours, information sessions and much more!
With our borderless design, we support interaction with the wider Silverstream community. As the village progresses, some facilities, such as the café, will offer access to the general public. In the same way, The Sterling maintains strong connections with the wider community by supporting resident access to the stream and walking and cycling areas, and inviting local community groups to connect with our residents.
Peace of Mind
With winter comes the unwelcome burden of home maintenance. It can be a hassle thinking about mowing lawns and clearing clogged gutters, so at The Sterling, your home maintenance is taken care of by us! Enjoy peace of mind as you relax in the comfort of your warm, dry home.
Winter also brings with it plenty of rain, ice and other slippery hazards. If you happen to have an unexpected fall or medical event anywhere within the village, our technology – such as motion sensors and emergency duress systems – ensure a staff member will be notified and respond to you quickly.
If you choose to travel over the winter months, retirement village living provides the perfect ‘lock and leave’ lifestyle. You will have peace of mind that your home and belongings are being well looked after while you explore the beauty of New Zealand or escape abroad.
